ALL-STARS BASEBALL

This summer was Brandon's first year to play "Majors" Little League baseball, and he was chosen from among our three teams to be on the ALL-STARS traveling team to represent Homer in the Peninsula tournament! (He is 4th from the right in the photo above). Saturday, July 11 - Tuesday, July 14, the boys played one game a day versus Kenai (red/black), Soldotna(teal/black), Kodiak(blue), and Kenai once more.
Brandon usually played the second half (3-6th innings) of the games in the infield: 3rd, 2nd, or 1st base, and pitcher. He even scored in this first game against Kenai, the one match they won, 12-4! "Mom, now that was FUN!!"
How cool to have Grandpa see his pitching and victory. :)

The boys camped in tents around a side field where they played more baseball with a tennis ball for fun!
The next games against Soldotna and Kodiak were tough, but the boys played hard.
We enjoyed our time getting to know the other families as we cheered our team on and camped out together, sharing meals and campfires. It was chilly in Kenai - foggy and breezy.
By Tuesday the boys were ready for a change of scenery (and a shower!), so we drove 15 minutes to the Nikiski pool and slide to play!
When we came out for sack lunches, the glorious sunshine had appeared!!
Coaches gathered the team for a meeting to review signs before their final game.
Brandon made a great catch over his shoulder playing first base.
We're proud of our little slugger! Time to pack up the trailer and head home. Kodiak and Soldotna went on to the state tournament three days later in Anchorage, but we're done with baseball for another year. What a good season of teamwork, friendship, and growth. :)
