Homer Mariners Homecoming

There is Mariner pride in town this weekend! The football team played Skyview from Soldotna and were victorious in a 20-14 win that came down to seconds and inches. There was a parade through town yesterday and a halftime parade around the track during the game today featuring "floats" from each of the community schools and then each class from the high school. Clayton helped carry the sign for the McNeil Canyon Dragons and Jordan and Brandon were feet in the dragon Friday (they chose to go fishing instead of attend the game Saturday).
Our friend and hero Karl Swanson is a junior on the team who plays both defense and offense; his dad Pete Swanson is our school principal and a coach for the football team, and his mom Lenore is one of my best friends and scrappin' buddies. What a beautiful day for the town to come together!
