Coach Etzwiler - Go Team!

The boys' Bruins team got to play a "real" basketball game against Nikolaevsk Russian village school kids Friday afternoon. So fun! We all drove out 20 miles to their school (near Anchor Point) to play on a beautiful court with a real ref, uniforms, score clock, time outs, and substitutions. They were a bit nervous at first, but remembered their practices to set screens, run fastbreaks, and pass to the open man. Our friend Coach Chris Etzwiler has been practicing with Homer community kids for the past couple months, and has scheduled several games with area schools in the coming weeks. Go team!

We've enjoyed spending more time with the Etzwiler family this basketball season. Koby and Ty are in the same classes at school and on the same Upwards! basketball teams as Jordan and Clayton every Saturday. They definitely look for each other out there on the floor, and have a great time together both on the court and off... In case we hadn't had enough basketball this weekend yet, we invited Chris and Krista - 1st grade teacher at McNeil - out for pizza tonight after the boys' games (they brought pumpkin pie) to watch some of the Elite Eight college basketball tournament. AND the boys set up their basket in the garage and "hooped it up" just a little bit longer... :)
