Dip-Netting Kenai Reds

Sunday morning, July 12, the boys took a break from All-Stars Baseball and walked a half a mile down the road to the Kenai River where the red salmon had come in! Joining the crowds of people and seagulls, the guys scooped about 26 fish in an hour with the two 4' wide dip nets.
Brandon could stand out deep enough in his waders, but he did get water down his armpits when he twisted the big net to drag it in with a fish! He enjoyed fishing right beside his baseball coach for a while. :)Jordan also caught many reds single-handed, but his Dad often gave him a lift... so cool to see the teamwork and thrill of the catch.

And Clayton's job up on the beach was to club 'em and keep 'em in the coolers!
Sheldon took the fish home that night to clean so we could can and smoke them up following the tournament...
