Jordan's 4th Grade class went on a field trip Monday, September 28, to the nature center on the top of East Hill. It was frosty and cold at 9 a.m. for our outdoor hikes and plant identifications!

The group split in half with 2 guides to hike 1.5 miles and identify Alaska plants that natives used for health and medicinal purposes. "Dandelion is a great multi-vitamin," Jordan was reading from his card. :)

A lookout over the field of fireweed (laxative) with spruce (vitamin C) behind.

The bog has lots of moss (gauze) and Labrador tea (mosquito repellant).

Mom and I went snowshoeing up here with Ruth once, but it was fun to get the nature tour and learn a few things along the way!
