Homer ALL STARS Baseball

Following his regular Little League season, Brandon was once again voted to the All-Star team to compete in the Alaska Regional tournament. This year Homer joined the East Pool in Anchorage, July 11-15, playing teams including Far North, Elmendorf, Polar, Nuniak Valley, and Kodiak. The opening ceremonies were nice to introduce all the boys involved... all our 11-13 yr. olds!
Brandon got to play shortstop in the first game Sunday against Nuniak Valley, and they won 10-4!Many of the families camped out together for the week at the Centennial Campground. So the kids played, hmmm... baseball for hours with a plastic bat and ball! I helped coordinate meals... this scrambled eggs and sausage breakfast was a hit!
Since gametimes weren't until evening, we found a few things to do during the day... Monday was a beautiful sunny day, so we took the team to a big batting cage with different speed pitches. Brandon got to pitch Monday night against Far North, some beautiful HARD strikes right down the middle! But those big boys found his zone and hit a couple home runs in the early innings. So proud of him for going back out each inning and throwing his hardest. Tuesday was wet, but we put up our hoods and went to the Zoo...

Beautiful polar bears and lots of critters to see!Brandon played shortstop and stole bases again that evening...
But one inning of too many runs for Elmendorf: Loss #2.
Wednesday was sunny and HOT again... off to the Go-Kart races. :)
A beautiful and close game for Brandon pitching against Kodiak, but a third loss. Thursday, the boys played Polar and won #2... enough to advance to the District Tournament a couple days later at the same field! So after a quick trip home to regroup - back to the fields for a double elimination series Saturday and Sunday. What a great learning experience as they played some BIGGER and more experienced teams.
Brandon was a good team player and leader on the field.
Another season in the books... proud of you, Son!
