Friday night, January 28, Brandon's marimba band Rufaro was honored at the Homer Council on the Arts annual meeting. Following a beautiful power point presentation of all their community events, class offerings, and gallery displays, several awards were given to artists, businesses, and organizations representing the fine arts. Among all the gifted singers, instrumentalists, and dancers in Homer, Rufaro received "YOUTH ARTISTS OF THE YEAR"!! Diane Borgman gave a very nice introduction with the band's history, recognizing their weekly 3-hr. practices and participation in Street Fair, Farmer's Market, Jubilee Talent Show, Concert on the Lawn, Zuva Festival, and Marimba Madness.
