Johnson Lake Salmon Celebration!

Tuesday, May 3, McNeil Canyon Elementary 2nd Graders rode the bus 2 hrs. to Johnson Lake for Salmon Celebration learning stations and fry release into the lake! Each campsite was set up with a table of discovery including salmon life cycle, salmon species comparisons, critter hides, tracks, and scat, erosion, safety, alkaline and turbidity testing of the lake, etc. I got to accompany these great kids in their experiments - Clayton, Ty, Paige, and Oriana.
Finally, the horn sounded and it was time to release a fish into the lake! Yikes... the kids eventually made it down the crowded bank with a fry to send swimming.
It was a fun day of learning, but a few too many elementary schools involved for me. Been there, done that! The kids enjoyed a day of adventure in the great outdoors. :)
