Saturday, July 30, we went across the bay on the landing craft to Jakolof Bay with Uncle Ken, Uncle Willie, Uncle Warren, and all the 4-wheelers to cruise RED MOUNTAIN!

It's a whole new world back there where the red rock emerges!
We explored an old shaft where chrome ore was mined in the '40- '50's.
The new 4-wheeler got initiated on the "trails"!
The boys scrambled DOWN a gully to jade deposits in the creek...

... and crawled UP the cliffs on mountain goat trails to the peak!
Views of Kachemak Bay and the Kenai Peninsula behind them.
The other side of the mountain - the Gulf of Alaska and the Chugach Islands.
