Jordan's Birthday FISHING!

Friday, August 17, Jordan celebrated his 13th birthday!  Traditionally, it is a national "Fishing with Dad Day," but the whole family got invited along to troll for king salmon toward the head of the bay.
Aurora Lagoon was a beautiful spot with lots of seals to let us know the fish were in, and they were biting! Jordan grabbed the first pole and held the size record for the day, nearly 20 lbs.
The boys did a great job netting, and we didn't lose many hook-ups at all!

One after another, "Whose tag are we going to write this one on?"
The limit is 2 Kings per person per day.
A black bear strolled across the beach checking out the action!
We limited out with 10 nice kings before noon - incredible!
Time left for Humpy Creek pink salmon fishing...
They were SO thick in the creek, the line wouldn't even sink - stuck on all their backs!

They were starting to turn dark, ready to lay their eggs and die upstream.

The boys couldn't resist the volume of FUN and finally jumped in to chase them to the beach and catch them with their hands!
It doesn't get any better than this. :)
A pod of whales surfaced on our way to Halibut Cove to clean and photograph the fish.
 The line-up!
 Big fish, BOYS!
Grandpa and Willie ran out in the other boat to catch their limit in the next hour - 14 kings altogether!
 Yee-Haw, Pa!
Jordan's friends Spencer and Koby came over to spend the night.
Happy Birthday candles on brownies... easy for Mom!
And air-soft gun adventures before bed... what a day!
Saturday morning, August 18, the boys set the alarm for 7 a.m. to go get some more!
Home for fresh fish and angel food cake...
... and presents with Grandpa and Grandma.  Happy Birthday!
