Mariner Mile

Thursday, September 14, the Mariner XC Running team hosted a fundraising "Mariner Mile" for community members and school families to compete in heats for 4 laps around the track!  The event was made even more special as it was Saundra Hudson's first run 6 mo. following her concussion and tinitus trauma.
Clayton paced in one of the early heats with Spencer Dye... a little faster than he had planned!
I had the privilege of running with Saundra, though the rain poured down as soon as they called our heat to the starting line.  We were supposed to pace a 13 minute mile, but didn't quite keep up with Brooke.  Such a trooper, Saundra was blessed and delighted down the home stretch when the heavens opened and the sun peeked through above the kid's tunnel, "Let's just make this moment last forever!"
Sweet Perk was overcome with emotion for his bride.  They've come a long way!
 LOVE HER.
Jordan ran in one of the last heats, with a goal to run the fastest last lap...
He did and brought home the bacon, literally!  A great prize donated by a business sponsor. :)
