Tuesday, September 29, the McNeil Canyon Elementary kids walked all along Homer's beaches collecting and recording trash for the annual Coast Walk fundraiser. They collected pledges per pound of trash and ended up weighing in hundreds of pounds!
Ty Etzwiler, Gage Miller, and Clayton were partners all morning.
Cigarettes and food wrappers were the most common trash cataloged as we combed Bishop's Beach along the driftwood where lots of campfires and picnics are held in the summer.
The kids each designed their own T-shirts for the event. Clayton's quote said, "Life with plastic isn't fantastic." above his "cleen" and "dirty" ocean scenes. :)
